UPPROR UNDERIFRAN" LP
Limited purple vinyl
Blasting an unrelenting wall of D-beat hardcore, Resonating with vitality, "Uppror Underifran" ( translated loosely "Uproar from the Underground") by Swedish Legends AVSKUM is stunningly, their most severe record in the band's 26 year history. An overkill attack of smashing drums and guitar riffage, This Fourth Lp hearkens back to their 1982 origins , with a heavy DISCHARGE bent ala' ANTI-CIMEX mired with the incomprehensibily raw, blunt and brutal song structures found in the original era of Swedish hardcore punk . The MOTORHEAD-ish rock overdrive of their previous Prank LP's is still cranked with the curt economy of masters at the top of their game, capped with AVSKUM's inventive song structures and always great, trademark harsh vocals, all captured in a exceptional recording from Gothenburg's EVIL GRILL studio and slapped in a cool sleeve by Swedish artist CRASH MANGE . Taking a four year break since their last LP,"Punkista", the band took time writing "Uppror Underifran" to deliver 16 incredibly rock solid tracks that transition from their previous recordings to now have largely entirely Swedish lyrics, but still take relevant aim at U.S. War Policy, Capitalism and Mass consumption. Stunningly one of the band's best outings yet that demands to be Played loud! No... Louder! Louder! Louder!

Avskum - Punkista - LP ltd purple vinyl
AVSKUM "Punkista"-LP
Limited purple vinyl
Charged and furious, classic Swedish Punk carved out of D-Beat and DISCHARGE, blasting with Hoarse vocals and a wall of guitars. This is the third LP by Swedish legend's AVSKUM, who have existed on and off the Swedish hardcore punk scene since the early 1980's. This LP is marked with unqiue twists and turns that challenge and defy the formula while satisfying both fans of the bands old dirgy style "Ingen Manniska Ar Illegal" and full on DISCHARGE style attack "Children of war". Vital and powerful, Punkista was recorded at Sunlight Studios (entombed) in 2002 .

No Statik - We All Die In The End - LP ltd orange or brown vinyl
NO STATIK " WE ALL DIE IN THE END" 12"
ORANGE VINYL FOR MAILORDER.
( 300 Orange, 300 Brown ( stores only), 300 Black Pressed)
Raging hardcore from the SF Bay area, NO STATIK's Debut 12" takes a straight forward 80's hardcore charge and detonates it with bursts of chaotic 90's hardcore rapid fire drumming, leaving Guitar leads sear and squeal out of the chaos as brutal vocals dredged and nail down dark, pointed lyrics. Six inventive blasts of thick, stop, start and rampage are on the A-side and the B-side is the title track, an experimental track that weaves the band's hardcore attack in and out of an ambient and rhythmic soundscape.
Vocalist Ruby was previously in MOMENTO MORI and SCROTUM GRINDER. Guitarist Mark was in LOOK BACK AND LAUGH and DESTROY!. Drummer B was in SCHOLASTIC DETH and END OF THE CENTURY PARTY. Bassist Robert was in ARTIMUS PYLE, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? and is in CONQUEST FOR DEATH. The band previously released a debut 7" on IRON LUNG RECORDS, which sold through two pressings in a matter of weeks.

MERDOSO "IN SILENCE" 7"
WHITE VINYL FOR MAILORDER ( 300 white, 300 black pressed
San Francisco's MERDOSO, this three song debut builds on sturdy, straight ahead rushing guitars and solid drumming. Using the repetitive nature of D-Beat as it's Strength, Longer, measured doses of the rumbling, sturdy drum attack, scowling vocals and the unrelenting volley of brutally crude guitar riffage give this EP and unique, dark mood. The recording enhances the EP's enigmatic sound, an echoey quality similar to 80's European hardcore EP's but recorded by Jeff Leppard ( VOETSEK, ACEPHALIX) at San Francisco's Lennon Studios, balances out with the crispness of a modern recording. Features former members of PELIGRO SOCIAL, ACEPHALIX and STORMCROW.

Weekend Nachos - Worthless - LP ltd red vinyl
Worthless - LP ltd clear red vinyl
The 3rd Weekend Nachos LP,, musically its the most diverse yet as far as range goes and its obviously full of John's pointed lyrics but done with his insight which puts a spin on things with again a focus on human hatred, personal issues and HC scene pet peeves (who can escape those you know?). I also really like that this record has more mosh which makes sense, a little more metal in the right places, the crust and D-beat is done in a more real way thanks to Brian's drumming but this also touches up on the faster material like they used to have during the 'Torture' era giving it a sort of retrospective feel on things but not at the sametime, knowing they're not going away anytime soon. This though IS one of the best HC LP's of 2011, esp if you want brutal hardcore.

The Shit Dogs - The History Of Cheese - 2x7"
The Shit Dogs - The History Of Cheese - 2 x 7" KBD reissue
Reborn/Raw Meat/Killer Cain/WW11 Never Ended/Blood Clot - 2 x 7"
Redneck ramones. From Baton Rouge, Louisiana
We have always been huge fans of these guys both in theory (they’re called The Shit Dogs, man!) and in practice. We first heard them as a 19-year-old LAZY COWGIRLS fanatic who followed every Southern California show of said band circa 1986-89; they debuted a new cover of the ‘Dogs “Reborn” during that epoch, and always took care to announce from the stage who had originally penned it. Great crap-fi, meathead punk number, and a few years later I heard the original on a “Killed By Death” along with the even better “Killer Cain” from the Shit Dogs’ “History of Cheese” EP. The band seem to have existed on the same who-cares, crap-for-crap’s sake mental plane as the SCREAMIN’ MEE-MEES, PENETRATORS and of course THE RAMONES, none of whom were crap in the least. Lousiana’s best rock band of all time? Hey, can you name a better one?--Review from Agony Shorthand

Young Identities - New Trends EP - 7"
YOUNG IDENTITIES
"NEW TRENDS" 7" (540)
NEW TRENDS/INSTANT FEELING/THREATS
Another killer Australian punk reissue from 540, this time it's Young Identities' classic 2nd EP. This is absolutely brilliant, classic Aussie punk... if you like the Victims and other Murder Punk this is an absolute necessity. "The Young Identities EP's are standouts among the Savage/Shake releases, especially the New Trends EP. The band's line-up was mixed in with other band Brisbane bands who were, in turn, part of other groups. In other words, a history of the Young Identities is necessarily a history of a few other bands. The history below overlaps and repeats some of what can be found on the Just Urbain page albeit from a different perspective. I can certainly be counted among the "overseas overseers" who became interested in the early Brisbane punk scene several years ago. Without further ado, another history from the younger, snottier contingent of the no-scene Brisbane scene... " -breakmyface.com

Young Identities - Positive Thinking - 7" ep
The first in 7" on 540 records that reissues all the releases on shake records and savage music - the labels captured the original brisbane punk scene in australia 1979-83. the debut Young Identities ep from 1979 is pure sloppy, lo-fi and obnoxious punk rock. this is some kids who can hardly play but manage to hold it together with one dominant factor: attitude. the original version of which only 300 were pressed.

Just Urbain - Burning - 7" ep
Just Urbain - Burning - 7" EP
One of the greatest bands ever to come from the early Australian punk scene which is why they made the number 36 spot on Johan Kugelberg's top 100 DIY 45's.A bunch of guys, all to varying degrees somewhat disengaged from mainstream culture & wanting something different. A bunch of guys living in a then non connected world but willing to make the effort to do something beyond go to the footie or go to the pub, like buy the NME, hang out at the local import shop come together through mutual musical interests & form a band. It took some monthsand some membership movement but on an unremembered date in '78 JUST URBAIN (& The Young Identities) 'arrived'. Yeah I think I saw that movie also! Anyway we did gigs, had fun in the practice room & for various reasons were involved with the 2nd Leftovers recording as well as the issue of their EP. So what do you know we take it to the next level in '79--Just Urbain, Young Identities & The Bodysnatchers go into a recording studio & spend an afternoon & a few hundred dollars recording 3 singles & behold not only do we have some singles but our own label is born. Fantastic stuff although it didn't really improve our standing in the local scene. Not that we cared. I wouldn't say we had a lot of attitude but we had enough. You had to make the effort to find us as we weren't looking for you." - THANX TO TURKEYNECK

Weekend Nachos - Unforgivable - LP ltd red vinyl
WEEKEND NACHOS - Unforgivable - LP very limited opaque green vinyl/100
Weekend Nachos feature members of Harms Way and are once again mixing the powerviolence of Infest and Crossed Out with burly metallic guitars and masterful riffage, totaling twelve tracks on "Unforgivable."
Brutal as FUCK 2nd LP from my fave Chicago band. The band is now back with Andrew who was their guitarist on the 'Torture' EP but don't think for a second the band has reverted back to the sounds of that record. On this 2nd full length record the band still has some of that unique mix of NYHC, YOT and Infest sound as shown on the Punish LP but it also incorporates a bit more HHIG, Tragedy and Deathside influence of hardcore creating almost melodic angry hardcore tunes here but they also continue to add the influence of deeper and heavier hardcore to their sound that they'd previously hinted at in their evil blend of hardcore. There's even this early Hatebreed and Blood For Blood sound but fear not for where they got that sound down a little, there's more semblance lyrically to those bands. This is the most HATEFUL material the band has done to date and I've never in my life seen a band continue to write such angry and despising lyrics like this and to actually make them more pointed and just get better in time astounds me. The tracks off the This Comp Kills Fascists were already in the red but this really takes it. Basically John hates all of us and you have to accept that. This was one of 2009's best hands down and if you like hate filled hardcore and constantly feel like taking out someone, living a life that's constantly weighed you down by constant shit this LP is for you. Just buy the record already. Nicksick.
1. 2009 2. Elevated Tracks 3. Unholy Victory 4. Pain Over Acceptance 5. A Few Blocks South 6. Balance Of Power 7. Nights 8. Rejected Psychopath 9. Shot In The Head 10. First To Burn 11. Reason To Die 12. Unforgivable

Landmine Marathon - Wounded - LP Ltd Clear Green Vinyl
Landmine Marathon - Wounded - LP
Limited clear green vinyl
Formed in late 2004 in the sun-scorched desert of Arizona, the five members of Landmine Marathon play thrashy grindcore that recalls the early days of Earache Records. Their first full-length, "Wounded," combines ultra heavy riff loaded guitars and punishing rhythms that alternate between maniacal blur and choke-the-life-out-of-you slowness, all crowned by Grace's gender blurring vocal onslaught. Fans of Bolt Thrower, Terrorizer, Daughters, Ed Gein and Assuck will soon be suffering from a case of headbanger's neck. "Wounded" was recorded by Ryan Butler @ Arcane Digital (Impaled, North Side Kings) and mastered by Dave Shirk @ Sonorus (Mastodon, Converge, Nasum). Now available again on vinyl.

Young Republicans - Sabotage Your Cookout 7" EP
YOUNG REPUBLICANS "SABOTAGE YOUR COOKOUT 7" EP
Great package includes freee digital download
Finally found after going missing for nearly 25 years, the Young Republicans demo cassette is certainly one of the most elusive and infamous artifacts in the history of hardcore and is truly a special item. Some have claimed that it never existed while others have referred to it as a "holy grail" item. Recorded in ’83 and only given to a handful of close friends, ¾ of the band would later go on to form the initial lineup of the influential group YOUTH OF TODAY. This 9 song EP captures the absolute essence of spirited hardcore under the shroud of Reagan: snot-nosed teens going faster MPH while standing in opposition to teachers, parents, rednecks, & suburbia. Highly catchy & classic sounding, this could easily be considered the crucial missing NYHC or CT 7” EP from 1983.
Three tracks on this Young Republicans 7" EP would later be reworked and rerecorded for the debut Youth of Today "Can't Close My Eyes" 7” on Positive Force; “Respect For Authority (None)” became “Stabbed In The Back”, “Backyard Bomb” became “Expectations”, and “High School Rednecks” became Project X's “Straightedge Revenge” note for note on their sole EP on Schism. I strived to give this the packaging I felt a release like this deserves: a thicker 14 pt glued 7" jacket with an old school style "dip cut" (like a late 70's UK punk 45) along with a nicely done 2-sided 14" x 7" inserts that includes lyrics and tons of photos that Porcell excavated from his archive. - Chris - More Than A Witness Records

Weekend Nachos - Two Things At Once - LP ltd red vinyl
Weekend Nachos - Two Things At Once - LP ltd red vinyl
This LP is pretty easy to figure out, it compiles both the 'Torture' EP and the 'Bleed' EP's in their entirety aka their 'fast' and 'slow' records, 1 EP per side but the difference here is both records are remastered (you really need to hear the revised version of 'TORTURE'). Dig the Descendents reference in the title? Anyone even get it? 'Torture' has been OOP for at least a yr and a half & Bleed went out of print within a few months of release so its nice these songs are available again, esp knowing the band still plays many of them still. Comes with a reflective Silver background cover, it doesn't look like it would have cost extra but it did so that accounts for a dollar mark up on the LP cost. And of course there is color vinyl for you WN record nerds. Its on RED of 100, that's it and I only got 75 of the 100 color vinyl. 50 left 10 days into sales, so keep em coming! RED wax is HEAVY too,, thus the weight difference.
TRACK LISTING:
1. Intro 2. The End Of Your Faith 3. Snowball Fight 4. I Am Not The Wedding Singer 5. Torture 6. Fashioncore '88 7. Utopia 8. Necrolepsy 9. Scared Of Naked Men 10. Equal Rights 11. 10 Things I Hate About You 12. Dimension X 13. Sweatpants 14. Image 15. 4 Years 16. American Hardcore 17. Jocks From The Inside Out 18. Sludge 19. Bleed 20. Observer
Available at https://blitzrecords.bigcartel.com/
This LP is pretty easy to figure out, it compiles both the 'Torture' EP and the 'Bleed' EP's in their entirety aka their 'fast' and 'slow' records, 1 EP per side but the difference here is both records are remastered (you really need to hear the revised version of 'TORTURE'). Dig the Descendents reference in the title? Anyone even get it? School Jerks - PPDESCMFOBB - 7" EP
School Jerks - PPDSCEMFOBBT EP - 7"
Here is the 2nd EP from Toronto's School Jerks and one of my favorite bands going right now easily. This one is 1 song more than the debut on Riff Raff, & also a lot more loose and raw than its preceeding record. Comparisons to the Regulations occur to the feeble minded. Personally I don't hear it, the guys think maybe Amdi Petersens Arme is the only modern band they maybe could be compared to which I agree with a little bit but I most certainly do hear 'Inside my Brain' era Angry Samoans and 'Jealous Again' era Black Flag moments from this band though its def not a shallow ripoff band either. These former Terminal State alumni dip into inspirations you'd not guess and still do all the right things a true punk band would & that's all that matters here. This is essential if you're a fan of the early 80's SoCal sound from the LA area, not OC! Pink covers with a cool Easy Rider/Charles Manson inspired art piece for the cover & a typewriter font stamped sticker on the polybag with an insert for some of the 2nd press copies (about half of the copies are like this where the other half have no stickers or inserts). Confusing? Yes!

DILLINGER FOUR "More Songs About Girlfriends and Bubblegum." The title is ironic, of course, D4 doesn't give a rat's ass about either girls or gum... Many people think this is the best record Mutant Pop has ever released. Al l the others have not heard it. Chandler's blurb on the back of the sleeve really does say it all:
"Dillinger Four is one of the great American punk rock bands. For over a decade they’ve done their thing at the very highest level and you can put their stuff on the shelf of honor next to The Ramones and X and Black Flag and Hüsker Dü and The Queers and Screeching Weasel and whomever else you want to include in such illustrious company. First Wave, Second Wave, Current Period — it doesn’t matter, they’re among the best."
First recorded at the fabulous Sonic Iguana studios in 1997, this blistering 4 song EP is a masterpiece of the 7" vinyl format, a veritable mini-album. THE CATALOGS - S/T - 7" LTD PURPLE VINYL
MP-31 THE CATALOGS self-titled EP -- Here's the "legal" edition of the long-delayed Mutant Pop EP. These guys were covered by THE QUEERS in the mid-1990s, where where you? Originally kings of the surprisingly strong Hawaiian pop-punk scene, this was recorded in Portland, Oregon. Same material as the CATALOGS' "bootleg" listed above in the e-sleeves section, but a proper MP package for once! First 500 on purple vinyl, a shade which actually might best be described as "Cranberry."

Mutant Pop Records - The Loblaws - Won't Stop EP - 7" ltd pink vinyl + UK only insert
TOSSING AND TURNING/IT'LL TAKE A LOT/9:15/JIMMY
PINK VINYL 7" WITH UK ONLY HAND NUMBERED INSERT LIMITED TO 60 COPIES ONLY --ALSO HAS THE VERY RARE MISPRESSED 'TYPO' WRAP-ROUND SLEEVE.
MP-42 THE LOBLAWS "Won't Stop!" EP -- the first "new" Mutant Pop band and these mothers have the keys to the car. They cover a BEATNIK TERMITES song with authority, that'll tell you where they're at. Ultra smooth, dreamy thick vox over crunchy guitars. HIT TUNES!!! This is my new favorite band and I'm sure it will be the same for many of you as well. I think it is. First 500 on red vinyl. The plant ran out of red stock after just 203 copies and had to buy vinyl from another plant -- which came in a totally different shade! Imprint also ran the sleeve with a defective font with typos on the back and wound up redoing things. So the first 200 out the door are gonna be a little special -- the rare shade of vinyl in the typo sleeves... Yowza! And it's not only one of the best MP records ever.
THE LOBLAWS "Won't Stop!" Seriously, they won't. Dig the new breed, Mutant Pop 2.0: The Loblaws hail from Nashville, Tennessee, home of dumb country music and dumber country music fans. But don't hold their city against them, these guys aren't country in the least -- they have roots in a killer underground pop-punk band called The Robinsons, which toiled magnificently in New Orleans until a little storm called Katrina came along and scattered 'em... The three brothers and friend in this band (the latter a member of BACKSEAT VIRGINS) have been at it for a decade now in various groups and by now they have the songwriting and recording thangs down cold -- incredible pop-punk hooks and layer after layer of sugar sweet harmonies copped from THE BEACH BOYS. They cover the BEATNIK TERMITES on this four song debut record -- few bands can pull that challenging task off -- and they do it spectacularly. A taste of RAMONES downstroking, some of the catchiest originals you're ever gonna hear, and MASTERFUL vocal delivery makes for a very satisfying 4 song pop-punk rip... Another Mutant Pop record and a Mutant Pop CD are forthcoming in the next 12 months, jump on this train before it leaves the station! -- T. Chandler, Mutant Pop Records.

BRIGHT PINK OPAQUE VINYL 7" WITH RARE UK ONLY INSERT LIMITED TO 50 COPIES ONLY-THIS INSERT IS HAND SIGNED AND COLOURED BY ALL THE BAND-EACH ONE IS INDIVIDUAL
THE IMPULSE INTERNATIONAL are the new power-pop/'77 sound punk band featuring Dirt Bike Adam of the late and great DIRT BIKE ANNIE in new clothes as guitarist "Julius Buck." As with DBA before them, this veritable triple-A-side 7" is fast and catchy and lyrically cool, daddio. Word is that the Center for Disease Control is gonna have to have Buck & Co. quarantined for causing everyone they come into contact with to jump around the room spazzily, playing air guitar. Stellar, super, spectacular, sensational, spendiferous... They self-released their first split single, record number 2 is out on Deranged Records from Canada, this is number 3, record number 4 will soon be out on Killer Records from Finland, then comes the album on Deranged in Canada again. They really are "International," you see -- and they're in the process of taking over the world! This record is a must for fans of 1977-style Britpunk or early 1980s American power-pop, and fits in nicely next to bands like THE STATUES, CUTE LEPERS, and TRANZMITORS. Are you ready to rock?

Mutant Pop Records - The Connie Dungs - I Hate This Town - 7" ltd gold vinyl

MUTANT POP RECORDS
LIMITED EDITION GOLD VINYL 6 TRK 7"
I HATE THIS TOWN/WIMP BOY/MEDICINE/BETTER THAN ME/SOMEHOW/BOY OF THE MONTH
MP-08 THE CONNIE DUNGS "I Hate This Town!" EP -- reissue of a 1990s pop-punk classic, with a new PS. First 500 on clear gold vinyl. Technically this is the third CONNIE DUNGS 7", after their split with TUGBOAT and the Harmless Records release, but actually, this is the little record that first put the band on the map. Six great songs on one spinning slab, featuring Brandon Dung's plaintive lyrics and inimitable voice. This has long been one of peoples' all time favorite Mutant Pop Records, and it's my pleasure to bring it out of hibernation for another go round, despite my having previously called "last pressing" on a 45 piece edition in 2000 on opaque orange wax (long depleted).
THE CONNIE DUNGS. Pop punk poetry set to crunching guitars, sung by an ubernasal vocal contortionist. Words don't do justice. Utterly unique in sound. For my money one of the 4 biggest pop-punk bands of the 1990s (along with Screeching Weasel, The Queers, and MTX). You might add Jawbreaker and make it 5. Brandon Tussey "Dung" is a troubled soul and a great artist. The songs are upbeat and catchy, and heartfelt. The lyrics, first rate. Early material was cartoonish, later material much more serious and poetic in a Jets to Brazil/Weakerthans sort of way. This was one of the biggest bands "on" the label from 1996-2000. Brandon changed the band name to A Radio With Guts and made one more album after my 5. There is some chance he'll be back on MP someday; the probability of a new 7" is very, very high.--T. Mutant Pop Records - Jon Cougar Concentration Camp - Victoria's Secret Sauce - 7" ltd clear vinyl
MUTANT POP RECORDS
JON COUGAR CONCENTRATION CAMP 'VICTORIA'S SECRET SAUCE' LTD CLEAR VINYL 7" EP
VICTORIA'S SECRET SAUCE/DON'T CALL ME A SPARTAN/I'LL BE WHERE I'M AT/COOPER TEEN-O
Jon Cougar Concentration Camp (JCCC) is an influential and now-defunct punk rock band from the San Diego, California area. They have released several albums, including the 1996 Melon (BYO Records) produced by the legendary Blag Dahlia, and the 1999 No More Room in Hell (Recess Records) which was effectively an album of unreleased demos.
Jon Cougar Concentration Camp was formed in January 1994 in San Diego, California by Chris Fields, Clint Graham, Travis Spatter, and Travis Milligan. “There were a lot of people coming and going back then. We were just the four people that happened to be jamming together that night we came up with the name,” said Chris Fields, speaking of the punk house he dwelled in at the time. They played their first show at The Casbah on January 31, 1994. Less than two months later they released their first 7” EP on their own label. JCCC toured up and down the West Coast over the next 6 months. Word of the band traveled fast and before they knew it they were releasing their first full length album. They juggled drummers over the following year, and when asked to tour the entire US, Dave Swain came in to replace Clint and Travis. JCCC were a three piece when they signed to BYO Records.
During a break between tours and recording in 1996, Chris joined The Queers to support their album Don't Back Down. Chris jumped between The Queers and JCCC for a year before bringing fellow JCCC member Dave Swain into The Queers as well. Fields said, “I felt bad putting JCCC on hold all the time and leaving Dave hangin.” For a while, both Chris and Dave played in both bands. JCCC even went out in support of the Queers on a US tour, and filled in for them in Italy. During the recording of JCCC’s Melon the band brought in punk rock legend Blag Dahlia (Dwarves) to produce the album. Blag was impressed by Chris’s talent and asked him to join the Dwarves. After being overwhelmed by all three bands, Chris left the Queers and ended Jon Cougar Concentration Camp in 1999. He played in the Dwarves over the next three years and still has close ties with them. Dave is still with The Queers.
From 2000 to 2006, JCCC occasionally played shows in San Diego with the original members.
Chris' newest project is called End Of Power and is still a current member of The Dwarves. Dave Swain is a member of The Queers, and has a new band called The Bugs. Fields produced and played drums on their debut album. During the recording of The Bugs, Dave and Chris along with other musicians recorded Screeching Weasel's My Brain Hurts album as Jon Cougar Concentration Camp. It will be released on Livid Records as a short vinyl only release sometime in 2009.

Incredible Kidda Band - Radio Caroline - 7" ltd reissue
INCREDIBLE KIDDA BAND - Radio Caroline - 7" (Last Laugh) "Well, here we go. Another gem of a record re-imaged by the Internet personalities at Last Laugh. While technically a reissue (these two tracks appeared on the aptly titled Detour release Too Much, Too Little, Too Late in 2000), this is the first time that “Radio Caroline” and “We’re Gonna Make It” have appeared as a 7” and the format serves the songs well.
Personally, I've always thought that the Incredible Kidda Band ran rings around all of the more well known U.K. pub-rock-slash-power-pop bands of the late 1970's, making contemporaries like Eddie & The Hot Rods look like the boring dog turds that they were. Prime example: “Radio Caroline” is a fucking perfect tune, maybe one of the best representations of the genre, ever. It melds the simple (yet for most bands, strikingly elusive) concepts of melody, energy, into a tight, two minute barrage while retaining a structure that shows effortless transition from part to part. The stripped down B-side comes off as an afterthought by comparison but, as a stand alone track, is great nonetheless.
The Kidda Band should have gotten their due long ago but, as with all of the lost souls featured on VoT’s EXHUMED series, it was not to be. Right some wrongs and grab this thing. “Radio Caroline” is waiting for you." - Rawce (Victim of Time) '

Puncture - Mucky Pup - 7" ltd reissue
Puncture was an early English punk group. Founded in the summer of 1976, this Islington, London based, four-piece combo consisted of Paul McCallum (guitar/vocals), Steve Counsel (bass/vocals), Jak Stafford (guitar/vocals) and "The Fabulous" Marty Truss (drums). Their influences ranged from early The Who, The Kinks, Small Faces, through to Roxy Music, David Bowie, blues, rhythm and blues, and The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.
Their first major gig was in November 1976, at Fulham Town Hall in London a week after an early gig by The Clash. Various personnel changes ensued, with Jak Stafford leaving to join prominent punk band X-Ray Spex, as Jak Airport. A brief tenure with guitarist Eric Electroid (aka Kenny) saw them move on to pastures new, with the recruitment of band member Anthony Keen on synthesizer and keyboards.
In October 1977 they released a single called "Mucky Pup" / "Can't Rock N Roll (in a Council Flat)", the first release (Small One) for the Small Wonder Records label, based in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, London. 2,000 copies of the single sold out, prompting Small Wonder Records to press another 1,000 singles. "Mucky Pup" gained lots of airplay at various punk gigs throughout 1977, and the B-side, "Can't Rock N Roll (In A Council Flat)" was played on the BBC Radio 1 John Peel Show. They continued to play various gigs around London, notably at the punk club "The Roxy" in Covent Garden, supporting The Wasps and "The Man In The Moon" in Kings Road, Chelsea, supporting The Fruit Eating Bears. They continued gigging until January 1978, culminating in their farewell gig on 20 January 1978 at the Basement Club in Covent Garden, London.
In the 1980s The Exploited covered "Mucky Pup" on their album Punk's Not Dead.
Like so many other English punk singles of the time, original copies of the Puncture single now sell for up to £30.
"Mucky Pup" can now be found on the Small Wonder Vol. 1: Punk Singles Collection and "Can't Rock N Roll (In A Council Flat) is on Small Wonder Vol.2: Punk Singles Collection compilation albums.
