The Normals - Almost Ready/Hardcore 7" KBD

Legit repress of the single that (probably) best epitomizes the whole KBD genre. First time on 45 since '78, from the original masters on new label Last Laugh records, totally cult Killed By Death punk, one of the holy grail 7"s for many KBD punk collectors lovingly re issued.

This Louisiana punk outfit's history was as abbreviated as the rapid-fire catchiness captured on this first-ever compilation disc. The New Orleans-based foursome issued one single in 1978, "Almost Ready"/"Hardcore," built up a rabid fan base, and supported nearly all the big names (including the Police, the Ramones, and Talking Heads), yet never landed a record deal. The Normals tried to change their fortunes by moving to New York in May 1979, but they split up after failing to make any headway there. To pay off its debts, the band regrouped for an annual hometown gig from 1981-1984 (a gesture it resumed since re-forming in 1997). Your Punk Heritage compiles the "Almost Ready" single, an obscure, yet essential, U.S. punk-era benchmark; a clutch of demo sessions (some self-produced, with others abandoned after the band's funds ran out); and live tracks from the 1984 reunion show. The Zeros were an American punk rock band, formed in 1976 in Chula Vista, California. The band was composed of Javier Escovedo (younger brother of Alejandro Escovedo, older brother of Mario Escovedo of the Dragons) on vocals/guitar and Robert Lopez (later known as El Vez) on guitar, who were both attending Chula Vista High School; Hector Penalosa, (bass), and Baba Chenelle, (drums), who attended Sweetwater High School.

In 1977, The Zeros played their first major gig in Los Angeles at the Orpheum Theater. Opening the show was the first performance by The Germs, followed by The Zeros and then The Weirdos. The gig was promoted by Peter Case of The Nerves who later served as the frontman of The Breakaways and The Plimsouls. The Zeros' first single release, "Wimp" b/w "Don't Push Me Around" was released in 1977 on Bomp! Records.
In 1978, Penalosa left the band briefly to live and play in Los Angeles, and was replaced by Guy Lopez, Robert Lopez's brother. Soon after, Robert left to live in Los Angeles as well and his brother quit the Zeros. Penalosa rejoined the band and they continued as a trio, and eventually relocated to San Francisco. In March 1979, the UK music magazine, NME, reported that "punk riots had come to the U.S., when Los Angeles police broke up a Zeros' gig at Elks Hall."[1] In 1980, the band recorded a new single, including the songs "They Say That (Everything's Alright)," "Girl on the Block" and "Getting Nowhere Fast." After more touring that led to Austin, Texas and New York, the band fizzled out.
The band is infamous for playing an entire set consisting of 8 replays of "Beat Your Heart Out" in San Francisco.
More recently, the Zeros reunited to tour in Spain in early 2007. All four members reunited again for a short West Coast tour that began in San Diego in June 2009. In October 2010, the Zeros embarked on a short U.S. tour of the East Coast.

Started out in 1993 with: Jocke-Vocals (ex-Slakthusets Rivaler), Porre-Vocals (ex-Nisses Nötter), Joke-Guitar (ex-The Nuts), Sören-Guitar (ex-Tatuerade Snutkukar), Senap-Drums (ex-Bumsen Muss Mann) and Ägget-Bass (ex-Tatuerade Snutkukar). In 1995 NEH found a new guitar player, Beppe (ex-Tornado Babies). This line-up recorded “Boozers & Losers” m-Cd, released by Ägg Tapes & Records. In 1996 NEH played for a while with only one guitarist and recorded some songs for the compilation CD “Äggröran 2” released by Ägg Tapes & Records later that same year. In 1998 some demos were recorded. Not Enough Hate was put on ice in 1999. “10 years gone” EP out in 2005. New lineup: Porre-Vocals, Joke-Guitar, Charlie-Drums and Johan-Bass.
In 2008 NEH are participating on the swedish compilation CD “Sverigemangel”.
NEH also take part on a CD with Vicious Irene and Hata Katten called “Maydaycenter cd 33”, which is released at their Sticky Fingers gig in Gothenburg. The CD is limited to 100 copies!
In 2009 NEH take part on the compilation cassette “Hoten från underjorden” released by Esox Lucious (limited to 100 copies).

This is no little feat but these 5 lads manage to hold their own against a band that set the bar very high in my book. POWER oozes from both the music and the vocals at no expense to style and melody. With a 12” and another 7” under their belt, these songs might just be their strongest to date. Recorded at Inner Ear studio – where else!!!
This is the second single from Give this summer, and it's twice as good as the first. While "Heaven is Waiting" was recorded in the same Inner Ear Studio sessions as this one, it featured the first two songs they wrote and practiced as the current incarnation of the band. Essentially, "Boots of Faith" is the first glimpse as to what we can expect from Give in the future. While they may still wear their eclectic influences proudly/loudly on their sleeves, these guys seem more focused and in control than before. Highlights: the main riff on side A is haunting and the ending of the B side is killer.

The Injections were one of San Diegos earliest punk/underground bands.The band consisted of Lou Skum on vocals,Bruce Perreault on guitar,Lisa "Acid" Astin on bass,and Joanne "Piggy Gargoyle"Norris on drums.The band started about 1979 and released one single,"Prison Walls/Lies" on Radio Active Records in 1980.The band dissolved by 1981 but resurfaced 1n 1982 for a reunion show at The Bacchanal and a recording session at Accusound Studios on 20 June 1982.The sessions were never completed but the songs showed up in 2001 on the Rave Up Records(Italy) album Prison Walls,along with the songs from the single.

Official reissue of insanely rare 1977 Pittsburgh punk EP. Mastered from original 7.5 ips tape. Members went on to form The Features, who released the great 'Floozie of the Neighborhood' single in 1979. Don't miss your chance to work it out with the Fingers!
The Fingers started out as a five-piece band (thus, the name) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in early 1977. Packing up their instruments and professional aspirations and leaving two Fingers behind, three members (two of them brothers) headed to New York City in September of that year hoping for some Ramones-type fame. As part of a press kit, their manager thought an actual record, instead of the standard cassette tape, might be more of an attention-getter. In December 1977, the Fingers recorded and soon released a three-song EP which was mostly sent to record company execs in the hopes of securing a contract. No deals were inked, but the "Isolation" EP purportedly caught the ear of Sire mogul Seymour Stein who dug but declined. Stein apparently deemed the Fingers style too similar to the Ramones — never a bad thing! The remainder of the "Isolation" EPs seem to have been swallowed up into the void. Until 1998, the record was completely unknown having never surfaced in a store or collection. Some collectors even had their doubts the record existed until a band member sent out a tape where, sure enough, you could hear the needle dropping down and some great punk rock begin. Between the manager and roadies and ex-girlfriends, around ten copies in varying condition made their way into collector hands. The A-side track "Isolation" is the hands-down winner while the two B-side cuts are less impressive but still good.
Of further interest to punk rock fans is the fact that the Fingers comprised the core of what would soon be The Features. Take three Fingers, add the manager, and a wardrobe change and you have the Features whose "Floozie of the Neighborhood" 45 is a pop-punk classic (a very, very rare classification 'round here). Modern day punk throwbacks, the Stitches, cover "Floozie" in fine fashion. Considering the chances of finding the original are slim-to-none, vinyl hounds should seek out the No One Left To Blame compilation LP which includes "Isolation" or — for the less discerning and more desperate — the Features LP released on Italy's Rave-Up label a few years back. Fresh out of high school in 1981, future Rhode Island comedian Joe Hebert rounded up the rhythm section of Providence artwavers the Tits and laid down a messy, fuzz-laden attack on Izods and boat shoes. But nearly 30 years later, punk collectors find little humor in their pursuit of the elusive "I Dont Wanna Be A Preppy" single. Its initial small pressing size (200 copies) and abysmal survival rate (the number of known discs can be counted on two hands) made the Joe Hebert Band 45 ripe for an official reissue.
