This Reactors single is a Killed By Death classic and this reissue has been deemed a better issue than the original, which was pressed in a ridiculously limited edition of 100 copies back in 1979. A good chunk of those were destroyed in a flood, which makes this one of the rarest American punk singles ever. 500 of the reissue were pressed. Originals have sold for over $1000, £5.99 is a drop in the bucket in comparison. No brainer. Recommended.

Legit repress of the single that (probably) best epitomizes the whole KBD genre. First time on 45 since '78 (not counting its inclusion on bootleg comps), from the original masters on new label Last Laugh records, totally cult California Killed By Death punk, one of the holy grail 7"s for many KBD punk collectors lovingly re issued.

FREESTONE were LA hippies who were actually mocking the then-early (197 punk sound on their incredible retard classic "Bummer Bitch". With some intrepid detective work, I've found this explanation from Freestone member Billy DeMoya, who confirms that it was indeed meant to be "taking the piss", and yet for so many of us this is a high water mark for berzerk, revved-up dumb rock. A total happy accident. It not only kicked off the second "Killed By Death" LP upon that comp's release in 1989 (and made me a fan for life upon the first opening bashed chords & tinkly piano), but it's now one of the most collectable punk 45s around. It literally defines KBD, along with a few other heavy hitters like the NERVOUS EATERS' classy "Just Head" and THE EAT's "Communist Radio". Freestone just happened to get lucky once, for two minutes flat, and created a monolith of foul, tasteless punk rock lunacy.

The Young Gov has been rolling from label to label for the last year or two dishing out some of the best and craziest sounding punk tunes you can get your ears around and this one on Criminal IQ might be the best of the bunch (so far). "Call Me When the Cat Dies" races along with a tense and sinister vibe immediately reminiscent of the Lost Sounds with guitar effects tweaked to make them sound almost synth-like in places. A total rager that sticks hard to the ribs and mind alike. The flip "Fade Away" is a great mod jam that pays homage to fellow Man City fans Oasis and there's even a thank you for weirdo City midfielder Steven Ireland on the cover. A great record by a remarkable song-writer.

YOUNG GOVERNOR is Ben Cook (FUCKED UP, MARVELOUS DARLINGS, NO WARNING, VIOLENT MINDS, etc.), and this is his debut solo record. "Virginia Creeper" and "I'm a Mess" were laid down by the Governor at East End Reclusives, in Toronto, Canada, a dumpy practice space responsible for an impressive amount of recorded work in recent years. Although more pop-infused than the hardcore punk stylings of Ben's present/past, Young Governor solo is arguably as raw and unpredictable as anything he's done, if not more so. The needle-pegged, hyperactive pop of "Virginia Creeper" and "I'm a Mess" offer a glimpse of the Governor's 2009 agenda, and frankly, teasers don't get any better than this. Pressed on beautiful lavender vinyl with a full-color sleeve (layout by Matt Wong), limited to 750 copies.

For those that are unaware, Gov is the 3rd guitarist in Fucked Up, as well as a part of such bands as Marvelous Darlings, No Warning and Violent Minds to name a few over the years. This current incarnation is completely solo, Gov plays everything. The music is a lot more in the powerpop punk style of Marvelous Darlings with a definite nod in the direction of Angry Angles.

Crow has been on and off the hardcore scene for almost two decades, with numerous releases in Japan. This was their first US release in 2001, recorded in Oakland at Polymorph Studios and has been out of print for over six years, with cover art and design by Carl Auge of His Hero Is Gone and Drain the Sky. The first vinyl offering from Toronto’s BURNING LOVE featuring Chris Colohan (CURSED, LEFT FOR DEAD, RUINATION) on vocals. Originally released as a limited cassette demo in 2009, now available on vinyl. Definitely more punk than CURSED but still rooted stoner / doomy metal hardcore. 4 originals and one cover. 2nd 7” and LP coming out soonish on DERANGED and a full USA and Canadian tour later this year. Review from EXCLAIM ‘While the name may deceive, there's no love ― just burning ― on this Toronto, ON-based quintet's energetic and completely grimy debut recording. Comprised of six tracks blasted out in ten minutes, the garage-based endeavour is shockingly debaucherous and unkempt. Essentially comprised of former Cursed vocalist Chris Colohan and Hamilton doom-y hardcore outfit Vatican Chainsaw Massacre, this sinister collaboration spawns a dirtier punk'n'roll-based hardcore outfit than one would anticipate. Their drive elicits comparisons to Disfear, Holland's the Spades, back in their Learnin' The Hard Way era, and of course, Colohan's deep-rooted adoration for Winnipeg, MB's dearly departed Kittens, offering an element of downbeat-heavy tracks bathed in primal angst. Keenly restrained enough to be melodic but still abrasive and loud, Burning Love offer up what's best described as the pelvis-driven distillation of their feeder bands. And that is great but pretty frustrating when such an awesomely primitive, rudimentary style can be so inspiring and brusque yet ephemeral.’

Marking the 2010 summer U.S. tour of Austin, Texas's WORLD BURNS TO DEATH and Sapporo, Japan's veteran hardcore band SLANG, this EP combines two guitar driven blasts of hardcore fury. SLANG have existed for over twenty years evolving between Classic Japanese fast hardcore and downbeat NYHC influences, their track " Our Grey Earth" rampages on SLANG's own path, incorporating the evolution of influences into a fast assault of hardcore that winds to a devastating guitar driven breakdown. WORLD BURNS TO DEATH similarly continue to evolve from caustic bursts of corrosive thrashing to a tempered attack stitched by a melodic guitar riff and glued solid with torrential drum bashing, volatile guitar blasts and harsh vocals, ensuring their track " Babylon Endures" continues their trademark sheer intensity. Final Conflict were from Minneapolis MN (the better known California band came a little later) and played great rampaging Midwestern hardcore. This band is not too well known, even here in Minnesota, but once people hear this 7" they are going to be back on the front pages. Powerful and aggro hardcore similar to contemporaries like Negative Approach, the State, Mecht Mensch or Die Kreuzen. This 7" was recorded in 1983 and is re issued by permission of Reflex Records. Recorded at Blackberry Way by Steve Fjelsted and produced by Bob Mould of Husker Du.

Manic Tokyo thrash-lunging straight to the jugular with vicious speed, a thrashing drum attack, insane guitar solos and coarse vocals. ASSFORT were the first classic Japanese styled hardcore band to tour in the United States, unleashing a devastating amount of high energy and flooring audiences on both coasts. They released several records, including a split with CHAOS U.K., on Vinyl Japan Records, a CD on the legendary Selfish label, an EP on the mighty Mangrove label and then two Well received follow up LP's in Japan with a new line up. Drummer Kiku currently plays in the world travelling CONQUEST FOR DEATH with members of ARTIMUS PYLE and WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?. In 2009 the band reformed with all original members to play Indianapolis's DUDEFEST. The response was so phenomenal ICE NINE wrote 3 new tracks that pick up right where they left off.
