The Mannheim five piece produce that crust metal sound with the aplomb of scene veterans. Guitars ripping between jangling d-beat riffing, trem picked almost black metal-ish speed sections and the melodic leads that give Crust that truly epic punk feel. Vocals are the bellowed hoarse throat tearers classic to the style, lent an edge by an extremely clean production and a delivery any wearer of a dred mullet would be proud of. The drums are intense, again with very polished production nothing is lost from the performance here, pummeling D-beats with some excellent cymbal play swapping to micro-blasting sections through rolling tom fills.
HELLKNIFE capture that epic stadium crust feel perfectly, while incorporating some unique elements, songs like ‘Burn It Down’ feature a strong bluesy crust’n’roll undertone which keeps the listeners attention. Where some might tire of a surging tide of D-beat for 30 minutes HELLKNIFE do exactly what is needed to please both purists of the genre and keep the more casual fan entertained throughout.

ROCKY & The SWEDEN, after the 7" released on August 8, 2019, which sold out completely on the same day, they have finally released a full album for the first time in 19 years. Their previous "TOTAL HARD CORE" and "GOD SAVE THE GREEN" albums are both counted as important works in the hardcore world, and are still often listed as favorites regardless of whether they are overseas or in Japan.
First of all, through the album, I'm in the middle of the “rockyness” you might expect. As a new element derived from it, the guitar work of new member KAZUKI SWEDEN should be noted. You will be shocked by the harmony that pops out in the “VOICE” head intro recorded in the second song. In addition, "GREEN RIOT" and "WEED WEED WEED" recorded on the 7-inch released as the foundation of this work are also included. And at “UNITE & WIN”, which hangs at the end of this album, a great circle with CAPTAIN “KOBA” SWEDEN.
The most striking jacket image is by OKANO MASATO, an up-and-coming artist living in NY. Also like the 7-inch, I want to pay attention and tribute to this album as a piece of “Total Hard Core”.

A live, rehearsal sound source collection of 18 songs, tracking the history of the early to the middle term, of the most important band of Venice · Hardcore · scene EXCEL, which is twinning with Suicidal Tendencies, Beowülf, No Mercy etc.!.

Excel is a crossover thrash band from Venice, California. The band never achieved commercial success during their early years of performing and recording, but they are considered to be one of the first crossover thrash bands to come out of Venice, along with their hometown heroes Suicidal Tendencies. They started in 1983 under the name Chaotic Noise and members at that time were Dan Clements (vocals), Adam Siegel (guitars), Rickey Palamino (bass) and Evan Warech (drums). In 1985, they changed their name to "Excel" and Palamino and Warech left the band since then. Their replacements were Shaun Ross and Greg Saenz.

After releasing two albums, Split Image in 1987 and The Joke's on You in 1989, Siegel joined Mike Muir's Infectious Grooves in 1991. However, during this time, Excel had already started working on new material for what would become their third and last album, but was put on hold several times, due to Siegel's tour schedule with Infectious Grooves. The album, titled Seeking Refuge, was not released until 1995. After that, Excel continued under various lineups but rarely played live.

The band announced a reunion in 2012, and have been active since.

The 3rd album, which is currently difficult to obtain, of Venice Texas · Hardcore · scene's most important band EXCEL, it is a special edition of 18 songs that are extremely important as a band archive, also the live recording of their last show before the reunion.

Only 200 copies were originally produced, which is understandable considering the band's situation then, but now these limited pressings are selling at high prices in used markets.
